A lot of my coworkers are like...much more social than I am, and very willing to talk about what's going on in their personal life, but yet when I try and have any sort of deeper conversation it becomes apparent that they know nothing about the topic. I work in biology. So we can talk about biology, right? Well, they arent interested in much of what's going on outside the scope of what affects us at work. Ok, *sigh* fair enough....chemistry? Physics? Astronomy? The science behind meteorology or the freakin' earthquake that just happened? Nope...no interest.
Ok...so maybe they arent into science..big deal. I also think language and culture are pretty interesting and have studied a bit of Japanese and Spanish. So let's talk language and culture! Nope...deer in headlights look...
Ok...so...philosophy? Nope..
Politics? How about anything related to our state or country's politics?
The response I got was "Arent they impeaching the president right now or something? What for? How does that work? Oh, I saw a meme!"

As someone who is probably over-the-top interested in shit..I just...dont understand how people live life without knowing or caring enough to learn a little about anything that's going on around them outside of their family unit or the people they talk to directly...do they just not care? The fuck is going on? Lol
