It takes roughly 3 months to launch a satellite, so if an enemy knocked our satellite constellations out we'd be crippled for years. It would be months before we could even properly respond with an effective military strategy. And the "space force" is mostly just roles and resources that were currently spread out over multiple organizations being moved to a single umbrella, anyway. It's more of a "re-org" than anything.
