Youre on the right point. Its not just about Dave still having an edge on him that makes him controversial to certain audiences tho. There is a clear line in the sand with almost anything that reaches a critical mass of popularity. People rebel about it literally for the only reason to be different. See also MCU movies. Any number of musicians. Etc Dave is an interesting case because he is absolutely well loved, and deservingly so because hes a master of his art.
