Still, it wouldn't have happened if I told him no.you're not necessarily required to be absolutely perfect in all circumstances; for one thing, that's impossible. you had a quick judgment call to make, and you may or may not have made the right choice. the other guy on the other hand made an unambiguous and clearly motivated choice to commit a particularly egregious violation of policy. if I were you, I would ask whether or not the call you made was right or wrong, so that you know for sure going forward, apologize for making the wrong call this time (if you did), and next time use this experience to make a better decision. in other words, being in trouble VS not being in trouble, who cares, just make sure to learn from this going forward. --- ...
