It may not be, but unless he's going to give these games an actual shot, why should we take anything he says on the subject seriously? After reading how he's spoken in the topic, does anyone believe he went in to any of the indie games he says he's played with an actual open mind, ready to have his opinion changed? I sure don't.

My main issue here is how he's basically saying "all your indie games suck and I'm right no matter what" and then being all "heaven forbid I express my OPINION to you people!" when people are obviously going to push back on such an offputting stance. Like he's not wrong in that indie games have a lower ceiling, it's natural that a small company doesn't have the resources like a company like nintendo. But to act like these games just don't exist and then get butthurt when someone uses them as an example of good games this year, no thanks.

Here is a full list of Indie games I have beaten.

Beaten (from best to worst)
Tier 1: Good-Great games I'd recommend to everyone and see myself replaying in the future
01. Cuphead (Top 200 game, for reference I have beaten a little over 1100 games in my 20 years of lets say hardcore gaming)
02. Shovel Knight
03. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (dunno whether this qualifies or not. Feel free to remove it if it doesn't or anything else on the list for that matter)
04. Braid

Tier 2: Good games with few flaws but not good enough to warrant future replays
05. Ori and the Blind Forest
06. Plants vs. Zombies
07. Celeste
08. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
09. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
10. Rocket League
11. Undertale
12. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
13. VVVVVV
14. Bastion
15. A Hat in Time

Tier 3: Average-OK games
16. Return of the Obra Dinn
17. Night in the Woods
18. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
19. Firewatch
20. Her Story

Tier 4: The overrated and nothing special tier
21. Hollow Knight (could have been great but some unacceptable flaws for a game of its kind)
22. INSIDE
23. Outlast 2
24. Outlast
25. Super Meat Boy
26. LIMBO
27. Cave Story (the king of overrated indie games with the most obnoxious true final boss and dungeon ever)

Tier 5: The gaming is an art tier
28. Journey
29. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
30. Gone Home
31. Flower
32. What Remains of Edith Finch

Now a list of indie games that I gave shot but realized it just wasn't for me
- Stardew Valley (think Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Harvest Moon: Back to Nature was enough for a lifetime as far as games of similar nature are concerned but I see why this game is beloved by people who enjoy the genre)
- Divinity: Original Sin II (maybe I can give it a chance again in the future. I loved Planescape and Baldur's Gate II but maybe just wasn't in the right mindset for this game)
- Guacamelee
- Hotline Miami
- Dead Cells
- Salt & Sanctuary
- No Man's Sky
- FTL: Faster than Light
- Pyre
- The Sexy Brutale
- The Witness
- Crypt of the Necrodancer
- Baba is You
- 2 Shantae games I forgot the titles of

There is probably more I'm forgetting about right now.

But yeah you tell me whether I'm judging them without even giving them a proper shot or not. Or do I need to play like a hundred more of them before I'm qualified enough to talk about Indie games?

Or should I just not be allowed to criticize indie games around here since it is the holy grail of board 8 because I'll stop. No sarcasm intended. I didn't make this topic to talk about my opinion on indie games anyway.
