Brawl Brothers (SNES)

Replay via Switch.
Played co-op with a friend online. I was Kazan and he was Hack/Norton.

A very unique thing about this game is that there is a code you can put in to turn it into the Japanese version, Rushing Beat. Names are changed (Hack is called Norton in the Japanese version), one character has a different grab/pummel where he kicks the enemy in the crotch (Slash/Bild), the difficulty is easier and all the maze sections are not present in the Japanese version which they added in the American version. It's recommended you play this game in Japanese unless you want to deal with those awful maze sections.

Another neat thing about the game is the Angry/Ikari mode you can turn on in the Options that can grant you temporary invincibility and more powerful throws.

I liked this game when I was younger but on this most recent replay I forgot how annoying the enemies are when they grab you. You can supposedly break out of their holds by pressing the Y button quickly but it doesn't work and I think the manual lied about it unless I'm doing something wrong.

This was a nice and short Contra clone.
