Personally it is for the peace of mind that the product via Amazon (excluding third party vendors) is more legit. That is not to say Amazon is flawless but I'd rather deal with Amazon should there be issues than with a third party vendor. I've had a third party vendor once claimed the new/used "official" Amazon Kindle case they sold me only looked different because it was fixed up. Bugmeat posted... You didn't have the same guarantees of swift conflict resolution like you get with Amazon. Aye. The customer service of Amazon is why I like them more even if certain products cost more on Amazon. As an example. When I complained to Amazon about that third party vendor giving me an imitation of the Kindle case, not only did Amazon refunded me but also gave me a $30 gift card to make up for the hassle.
