I'm positive she did not do it with the intention to "bait" anyone into slamming her like that. The general rule of thumb is that you should be aware that people are always watching. This goes double when you're a minority with a notorious reputation as people are looking for reasons to justify their opinions of you. This situation here is a prime opportunity to help reinforce people's beliefs. Cause you just know someone's gonna whip out their cellphone to retweet on the latest news on ignorance. If the guy had any foresight, he wouldn't have beat the crap out of the woman. But he didn't. He fell for it and did exactly what everyone was expecting. I.e. Hook. Line. Sinker. Racist are always watching. And they are always hating How black people act has nothing to do with it. By your logic all the racists should have changed their minds when Obama was elected.
