I watched Tron last Sunday and didn't have as good a time as I had last time I watched it (a little over five years ago, this is my second time). It's a pretty typical fantasy story redeemed by an interesting set-up, exposition that feels natural, a compelling lead performance from Jeff Bridges, visuals that are somewhat spell-binding even by today's standards (movie's a bit too proud of its CGI though, but at least it was depicting stuff inside a computer so the datedness has an excuse), and an underrated villain in Edward Dillinger, who seems like someone Trump would get along with. David Lisberger seems like another George Lucas-type who's better at directing special effects than actors. I can see how this movie inspired John Lasseter to make feature-length CGI movies, but too bad he turned out to be the PG version of Harvey Weinstein.

I started Gone with the Wind last night and finished it this morning. I was inspired to watch it by one YouTube channel that posed the question of whether the movie is worth watching in light of a screening of the movie in some vintage theater being cancelled for values reasons, and I'll answer a resounding "yes" with some reservations.
