also, your entire point is silly. conservatism is the belief system that values things without evaluating them.

progressive belief system: Adopting change X is good because it has this befit for this reason

conservative belief system: maintain X how it is because change bad

That's also a pretty myopic viewpoint. Both conservatives and progressives are frequently guilty of ignoring inconvenient facts and ultimately both groups have what they believe are beneficial reasons for either changing things or leaving them as they are and to pretend otherwise is kind of embarrassingly disingenuous.

Indeed. Progressives are just as guilty of saying "change is always good" as conservatives are of saying "change is always bad." In order to be effective, a government needs a blend of viewpoints, both to push conservatives out of their comfort zone to make changes for the better and to rein in progressives that haven't realized they're suggesting a change for the worse.

Unfortunately, the American approach to "a blend of viewpoints" seems to be one half of the room believing anyone that isn't a straight white man doesn't deserve rights, while the other half of the room wants it to be illegal to make a profit. That doesn't work so well. You need everyone to have relatively moderate viewpoints for anything to work.
