Unless it really is just a neutral apolitical game that various factions just decided to view through their own weird lens? The protagonist isn't gender-specific (though they are not said to be gender-neutral, the game just doesn't specify it), and there are some obviously gay characters in it. That's it. Some people love it because it has gays in it, some people hate it because of that, the majority just sees it as a good game that happens to have gays in it.
