I was just a wee lad when FF6 blew my mind, playing it in the mid-1990s, and I'm old enough that even when I first played FF7 I had my issues with it because I was so enamored with FF6 that I refused to accept it for what it was worth. While the Internet hated FF8 when it came out, at the time I loved it for whatever reason and was highly defensive of it. FF9, I was always highly critical of while still thinking it was a 'good' game in many regards.
