Topic	really don't think I can watch the NBA this year

Not quite the same thing. If I wanted to watch college football ~~and be disappointed by the Wolverines~~, I could do that and just not watch Penn St. games. Having the integrity of the entire professional league in doubt means no pro basketball, period. Thats a big thing to give up for some people, especially if the mindset kicks in of my decision not to watch wont matter in the scheme of things, so why deny myself something I like?
