Though I will say, I was exploring the cave below the icy summit in Timber Hearth and I just died, it was like the Supernova but happened far more quickly than 22 minutes from the start of the loop. Wonder what that was... Hmm, you sure you didnt just lose track of time? If the music changed to that same song it always does right before that happened then it was definitely the regular course of events.
