We probably won't ever think it lives up to its hype because we haven't played it until now. I remember before this gen even launched how crazy people were over the game and have continued to be since then.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating a great game but like with any art whether it be movie, book, album etc. when the hype level and praise gets to a certain point it creates expectations that are impossible to meet a lot of the time.
