17 y/o Miguel Cano was sentenced to 23 YEARS in the slammer for the murder of his MOTHER in South Carolina and will MOVE to an ADULT PRISON starting next year!!

He was 13 when he stabbed his mother to death nearly 30 times and he was in court today to apologize for his "horrible, evil actions" that happened in 2015.

44 y/o Isabel Zuluaga was stabbed in the chest, face and neck as one stab wound went all the way THROUGH her chest and into the MATTRESS while on her son's bed!!

The prosecutor asked for a significant sentence because he planned the brutal attack and thought about killing others too

Cano said "There are many people that my crime impacted very negatively and to you i am sorry. I am not happy to have hurt you. Some have lost a good friend. Others, a good family member and i am ashamed to have caused it"

His public defender said that Miguel had trouble controlling his emotions and was diagnosed with Autism AFTER this arrest as they sought to have him mentally incompetent to stand trial

A contractor was to have found her dead after going to their house and when no one answered, he found a then 13 y/o Cano with blood dripping from his clothes and said he killed his mother.

A judge ruled he could be tried as an adult on murder charge that carries a 30 years to life in prison and prosecutors accepted a plea deal to voluntary manslaughter that carried 2 to 30 years behind bars

If he had been tried and convicted as a juvenile, he couldn't have been kept in prison after he turned 21.

His lawyer,Christopher Scalzo asked for a 13 year sentence because Pablo has Autism and of his age where he has been in juvenile detention as family and friends testified that he was smart and liked to play soccer but that he also enjoyed violence and talked about murder making the pleas conflicted..

The judge found his actions "horrific" and sentenced him to a hefty 23 year sentence, more than 3/4 of the maximum and starting next year he will move to an ADULT PRISON.

Do you think this kid should have been tried in juvenile court?
