dowolf 10/12/19 8:55:09 PM #171: | Man I haven't been here in a while. Finished up Cold Steel IV. The short version is, I feel like it could have and maybe even should have been my favorite in the series, but it missed the mark on so many things that it just isn't. Which isn't to say it's a bad game -- it's easily the 2nd best Cold Steel game -- but compared to the top tier of CS3, Ao, SC, and the Sky the 3rd, it falls short. Also played through Yoku's Island Express, which is an absolutely delightful little metroidvania pinball adventure. It's just so chill, a nice game to relax with considering I spent let's-not-talk-about-how-many hours reading every line of dialogue in CS4 >_> Regarding Crossbell: My official recommendation is that you *need* to play the Crossbell games before CS3. In a way, the two Crossbell games and the four Cold Steel games are all one giant narrative arc; playing CS3 without experiencing Crossbell would be like reading A Dance with Dragons without reading A Feast for Crows because you've read the first three books. Like yes, it does involve a different set of characters primarily, but the A Feast for Crows folks still show up and everything they did matters! But it looks like you're already on that.
