There are many, many people in Turkey opposed. I have to imagine that this is in part an attempt to counteract his and his party's slumping poll numbers - there is a real chance that they are out on their arse at the next election for the first time in 17 years. I hope this blows up in their face, Erdoan has been courting Turkish Kurds for a while now and I can't imagine this would go down well with them. --- I just decided to change this sig.
