Screwball comedy at its finest. The Ski Lodge distills the comedic arithmetic of a series of comically improbably events into a cogent, coherent, tight narrative. There's nothing in this episode that is unnecessary. No clutter whatsoever.
I highly recommend you simply watch it. The episode gives a premise and six characters right away, proceeding to build five different relationships with great efficiency before inserting one moment of misunderstanding that causes it all to fall apart like a house of cards. This is how you write comedy. The simplicity of each character, with clear flaws (stupidity, homophobia, chauvinism) is played up perfectly, and the karmic retribution plied against the cast makes everything go down easily. Just an excellent episode of Frasier.
