Could be. But I find it endearing to have characters talk about themselves, even if it's awkward for them (like for mine). It really grants a thought into who they really are, and what they really think about themselves.
I think for some it would be a false representation of who they are. There are secrets and other things they would not want to just openly share with others where a more broad description of them and their past would definitely highlight.
Well isn't that what the third part of the submission is for?
I figured that would be shorter little tidbits but I suppose yeah. It would be larger than the second part though lol ---
