The wasabi isn't actually wasabi, it's horserradish colored green. Real wasabi is a rhizome native only to Japan, and is very expensive ($160 per kilogram) because it has a short shelf-life. Once it's prepared, wasabi is only good for like, 4 days -- that said, shipping it overseas is out of the question.

Wasabi is grown in the Pacific Northwest, too.
