DP had the best battle of all time and then the mess that was Tobias, in Unova he lost to a complete idiot and then in XY they heavily teased it and then he lost. This league was certainly worse than DP and XY but Ash won, so there's the argument there that it's better just because of that. It's like Lesnar beating the Undertaker's streak. The match was bad, but since Lesnar beat the streak the moment overrides how poor the match was. Nobody remembers the bad match, just the moment.
