I bought the Grandia port since I never finished the first one and didnt get around to the second one. It has its charm, but it has real problems.

Set aside the voice acting (we can do a whole topic on that) and look at the battle system. The path finding is awful, and in a game where character positions matter this is a big problem. Ive had characters run around the rest of the party when there was a shorter path, and other times theyve tried to run between two other characters when there wasnt enough space and they SHOULD have gone around.

Then theres the leveling system. I would like to see the higher tiered magic, but grinding healing spells and defensive spells takes a stupid amount of time. Plus, by the way I got to the wind magic it was too weak to be effective.

Im not going to stop yet, Im too invested to give up. Im just disappointed by the design decisions.
