It's true that most vegetables are not zero-calorie. Low-calorie, yes, but usually not zero.

They're especially low-calorie if you eat them raw. This makes you burn extra calories just digesting them (because their fibers are tougher and the sugars in them aren't caramelized), and in some cases, such as celery, you'll actually end up burning more calories digesting them than you get back from them, making them effectively negative-calorie foods.

But most vegetables will provide some calories.
