personally, i think the "overwatch 2" rumours are probably true in that there is a large overwatch development project happening, but i can't imagine it's a new version of the game. that would add nothing to the table. there's nothing mechanically wrong with Overwatch to warrant this, it would just be the same characters in the same modes on a new engine at best
i think it's probably a large scale addition to the currently existing Overwatch game - like a giant PVE campaign, or a looter shooter mode, or something. Something utilizing the currently existing assets but in a completely different way that the normal Overwatch team isn't quite able to capitalize on beyond the little event modes they do.
I've always found it odd that each skin has a slot where you can look at the weapons for the skin. I know they added the option to make weapons golden but it seems like it was designed to give character multiple weapons in the future ala TF2. A big expansion that gives everyone a 2nd weapon would be very interesting ---
