"I was in the wrong place at the wrong time" is a thing that happens irl and I would always advocate for getting to the bottom of such a claim especially if the person is indeed innocent. When it comes to "which gamefaqs account is mine and which one isn't," I don't have such sympathy. Long before I closed my main, I made it go MIA and posted on an alt on my former home board and no one figured me out. I kept it up for a few years until I got bored and used a user-oriented story to reveal it as a plot twist. No one had any idea... and that wasn't even the first time I did that on that board. It was just a much older and more well known alt at the time. When I first came here, I got "who ur main?" accusations daily and I often responded with my entire account usermap history or as much as I could remember. I do not get such accusations now. People know me by name for me. I just can't have sympathy man. If you don't want to be called an alt, change minds of people who call you one. If you don't want to be considered some other specific notorious user, do something so that you aren't. If you want to hide behind an alt, don't be seen. It's not rocket surgery.
