While this topic was inspired by the Chapelle discussions, it's not specifically about him. I've been seeing this argument for years now. I don't know what his sincerely heartfelt beliefs on LGBT issues are. I'd bet that he's above average on them compared to the general population. But my understanding is that the premise of the jokes is that LGBT people have gone off the deep end with all the orientations and are too protected/sensitive to criticism.
