It's a Star War, the content is gonna be rebels vs empire. If you want to know what happens in the movie then go watch the movie. I'm sure they'll remind you of all the relevant TLJ stuff (lol there's not gonna be much) in the opening crawl. Relax, you're missing my points. I apologize, I'll explain them more directly for you. At the end of the empire strikes back, there were multiple plot threads the audience wanted to see resolved before they even saw the first advertisement for Return of the Jedi. They wanted to see Han rescued, Luke to come to terms with his lineage, and the Empire to fall via the removal of Darth Vader and the Emperor, among others. As of the end of The Last Jedi, what does the audience want? We've just been told that the war will literally never end, and that the purpose of the war is to sell toys. The emperor/main villain equivalent has already been killed off. If the new empire/first order was going to ever go away, it would already be in motion. If I were interested in just hooking up to an IV drip of star wars sounds and visual effects, sure, story doesn't matter. Go on with eternal shooting with no progress. But I personally am looking for something more if I'm going to throw some time and money at something. The entire pitch for episode 9 is "hey, we don't care about anything that's happening, but it looks like star wars". Yeah, I'm sounding super negative, but I'll watch it eventually --- You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50.
