At least you can't see how visibly bored and disconnected from the game he is, like you can in modern times. - He's not constantly pausing to read shout outs. - No chat hand-holding. - He seems to be invested in the game. He's not yawning or sighing (at least as far as I watched) or whining about how slow the stream is or berating chat for not talking to him.
