We used either rubber dodgeballs that were way too inflated or actually basketballs once or twice lol. That was back in grade school. Done think we played it past that tbh.

Of course I'm like super old. (Not really I'm 34.)

In high school got put in special PE. (Note, a chunk were there due to behavioral issues. Mine was more physical issues.) Was standing by a wall once, kid kicks a ball and it ended up hitting the wall and slamming into my chest. I was less than a foot away from the wall.

Wanna know what happened? Teacher told me to go to nurse, was having some breathing trouble. Nurse told me that even though was still having pained breathing after going to the nurse's office and waiting for her to acknowledge I was there it was just having the wind knocked out of me and sent back to class. Teacher was stunned, but just let me sit. No one got in trouble.

In my school literally no one would have gotten in trouble for this.
