This is a team that fired its pitching coach mid-season so they're pretty much admitting (even if they're wrong) that it's on them. It's not just Diaz. The entire bullpen has been awful except for Lugo. This is 100% on them and not luck, because if they had even 1 iota of competence they would've had someone else by now able to fill in at the closer role, but they don't have that. They don't have bullpen depth. Diaz being awful would not affect this team as much had they done better int he bullpen. Him being bad is luck, but his poor pitching affecting the Mets as significantly as it has is 100% their fault.
