1. A Clockwork Orange (every feminist's most hated film, so it's a must) 2. The Godfather (a movie about real men acting like men; also it's just very great) 3. Pulp Fiction (just genuinely entertaining stuff, especially for a first watch) 4. Hoop Dreams (you will enjoy the basketball parts at least) 5. 2001: A Space Odyssey (you seem open to sci-fi, but keep in mind it is very abstract) 6. Apocalypse Now (the best war movie ever, but don't expect Saving Private Ryan) 7. Citizen Kane (a classic story but probably too old for your tastes) 8. Chungking Express (I don't imagine foreign movies are your thing) 9. 8 1/2 (ditto) 10. Mulholland Drive (guessing this will piss you off to no end)
I'm sure I'll love 2001: A Space Odyssey. I am not just open to Sci-Fi, it's prolly my favorite genre. ---
