I felt this did at least a better job of showing the circle of life and how are all connected. And made the plot make a little more sense.

I honestly thought Timon and Pumba were the only decent voice acted characters. I mean their dialogue was OK but I thought they did it well.

Did you expect the animal to dress in drag in this remake?

I agree with the plot being better fleshed out, and that Scar was shown to be a worse king for better reasons than "brother lion bad". Scar and his interactions with most of the cast were the highlights post-mufasa death.

I expected them to take that funny moment and run it through the PR ringer.
And they did.
What could have been "What do you want us to do? A singalong and a Hula dance?!" Was instead a 4th wall break joke. It wasn't bad. Just felt weird. There to make 25 year old women go "OMG A BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JOKE OMG OMG!"

The issue with the big fight regarding Pumbaa was "I ALWAYS STAND UP TO BULLIES!!"
Just bad. Aladdin had the same thing with Jasmine's shoehorned song. Blatant pandering that made everyone in the theatre roll their eyes.

I want to add that I wasn't overly excited for this. My fiance used our scene points for free tix and we went. I wasn't let down because it was different. I was let down because the changes made weren't that great.
Some were well done. "Just Can't Wait to be King" was really well done, and I wasn't expecting a tower of giraffes and hippos either.
But then Hakuna Matata was just 3 animals walking through a generic jungle. Oh, and another "lol self awareness" joke.
