Amazon offered up thousands of discounts as part of its 48-hour Prime Day sale earlier this week, but some price cuts were better than others, and some were a mistake that saw Prime members receive a 99 percent discount on camera gear.

As PetaPixel reports, anyone visiting Amazon looking for cheap camera equipment during Prime Day could grab themselves some unbelievable bargains. It turns out someone at Amazon screwed up and priced a number of very expensive cameras and camera kit at $94.48.

Examples of the overly-generous price cuts include the $550 Sony a6000 and 16-50mm lens bundle, $1,299 Fujifilm X100F, and the $2000 Canon EOS R. However, by far the best deal was on the $13,000 Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS Telephoto Lens, which just like everything else, had been reduced to $94.48.

To Amazon's credit, the company is honoring the orders rather than canceling them. That's going to hurt, especially as a number of the unbelievable deals got shared on Slickdeals where many more people would see them. As you'd expect, though, it didn't take Amazon that long to take down the deals so as to stop it losing anymore money on the expensive kit.
