I like this direction compared to all the non-gaming merchandise taking up most of the room. That stuff is a quick sell but selling retro stuff, exclusive rewards... that keeps people.

It isn't a quick sell, the action figures and statues take up space for months on end.

Even the clearance takes forever to move.

Nah man, those 10 dollar statues from a month ago hauled ass out the door from stores nationwide.

Ask yourself, why would Bet Buy have stopped doing it if it was apparently so lucrative?

Because Amazon stopped.

Not true really.

The deal was meant to entice them enough to come in, and buy stuff other then games. It's a common tactic in retail to take a loss on one item in the hopes that customers will buy more. But gamers are notoriously cheap and that didn't happen. At the 60 dollar price point margins are already shit. What fool in this day and age with developmental cost shooting through the roof every generation believes there's enough profit to be made by slashing the retail prices by 20%?

And Amazon has long since had the strategy of cutting prices and losing profit solely to choke out the competition knowing they couldn't compete with the price and convenience of themselves, only to raise prices later.
