Awesome, magnificent, even musically engrossing thing when the transitions have been made so seamless that two hours of music of differing genres feels like a single song. I know this is going way back. But that was just part of the brilliance of Bach's Mass in B minor. It was effectively the first time each section of the Mass was strong together as a whole piece. I should mention many many composers have composed the Mass before then and after.
