N64 going yesterday sucks. Probably the best, wish I was here for it.

N64 >>>>>>>>> SNES = Wii = Switch >>>> GCN >> Wii U >>>>> NES

NES doesn't have many games that I'd still enjoy playing. The SNES does and there's actually quite a few, and I sure as hell enjoyed that more as a kid. ALttP remains one of my favourite games, as does SSFII. I'm a bit young to remember many of the games from the time, but I loved most of them that I played.

N64 has such a good library of games, and was probably Nintendo's peak, along with obviously Rare. Two of the best Zelda games, MK64, the first Smash, one of the best Marios (and the first 3D one) Banjo-Kazooie, DK64, DKR, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Starfox 64, Star Wars Podracer, Excitebike, Turok, Pokemon Stadium... I could probably go on, but you get the point. There's a ton of good stuff on there, and the vast majority of it is still more than playable now.

The GameCube is surprisingly mediocre, now I think back on it. Wind Waker and Sunshine are both very good, but not compared to others in their series. Double Dash is one of the weakest MK games, I'm not a massive Melee fan, and there's a lack of RPGs. I guess it started the Metroid Prime series, Pikmin, and Animal Crossing, but out of those the only one I ever really enjoyed was Animal Crossing. Metroid is the one big series I never liked, for some reason the mix of platforming, shooting and exploring was never my thing despite liking genres with those by themselves.

The Wii is pretty damn decent. The best 2 3D Mario games, the return of 2D to consoles, two Zeldas, Brawl, which I liked more than Melee (please don't hurt me), and the best Mario Kart game by a country mile. There's also Xenoblade, and it was the first console to have VC proper, plus backwards compatibility and actually workable internet. There's a lot of other good stuff, but I think I listed everything I would consider great, and the N64 just has more. The features except purely games bump it up a little, too.

The Wii U is the Wii but without good new stuff. A weak Smash, a weak MK, a weak 3D Mario, no Zelda. It started Splatoon off, I guess, and it had Mario Maker which was great. It also had a lot of rereleases which were updated (Wind Waker HD is lovely) and is backwards compatible with Wii games, so it's not completely useless. Gamepad is shite, though.

The Switch is looking good so far but I've unfortunately only gotten to use other's. BoTW looks amazing, although I personally wasn't a fan of the controls or a few mechanics, and Odyssey looks great too. Smash Ultimate is the definitive version of Smash and it's not even close, XC2 has probably my favourite soundtrack of a game I've never played, MK8D is... Not as bad as MK8? It's getting a mainline Pokmon game in the future, which I'd hope would also be a plus. There's also a fair few indie games and ports of AAA games that released two generations ago. Also, it's portable and good for multiplayer on the go as long as you have ridiculously tiny hands! Wonderful.

tl;dr N64 amazing, everything else good to meh
