If the two major political parties were the republicans and communists, there would not be a divided government. It would either be a massively powerful communist party and a bare bones republican party, or vice versa. Either it awakens class consciousness, the proletaria-nyan class overpowers the capital interests and workers have solidarity, or more likely the bougie class all turn fascist to avoid the communists winning any power and the CIA/FBI/police effectively subdue any real communist opposition.
