So yeah, taking a break from Gauntlet. The mechanics are kinda annoying and kinda add to a lot of the difficulty.

Most recently, I kept botching spell switching for the wizard (since you have to tap two face buttons quickly and it only registering one tap at times, either because I went to use a spell too quickly or need to click a combo faster) which kinda killed the one really promising character. Because his good spells have a long cooldown, you have to constantly flip between stuff (and, of course, somehow keep track of the cooldown despite the visual display vanishing when you switch spells. Other than that, his attacks seem pretty useful other than not having a great way to deal with mobs (as far I can tell, I think you're supposed to switch to a dashing flame teleport but... I could never get the timing down well enough to switch to the spell and then aim it right).

Granted, when I go back I *could* try playing at a lower difficulty and after the fact I learned how relics work which will likely help as well. Neither thing which resolves the fact that facing large groups running at you isn't really fun. Plus, in general, I never like gaming on a laptop as much as a console.
