Do you believe that the straight pride movement doesn't exist purely to diminish the significance of gay pride by distilling it down to "look we're having a party too!"? This is not merely my perception of events. The only people who think "straight pride" is reasonable either don't understand what gay pride actually means, or they understand perfectly and see feigning ignorance as a good way to be dismissive of the matter.

Gay pride events still provide visibility to LGBT people, celebrate the marginalization they've overcome, and shine light on the marginalization that remains. A straight pride parade does not and can not change that. The straight pride event has done little more than draw attention to the fact that a straight pride parade can't possibly have the same significance. Straight people making fools of themselves by acting like (literally) pretentious twits is a net win for LGBT people.

You think that a glitter bomb constitutes a greater display of intolerance than systematic erosion of rights, violence (real violence, not the "that's technically assault" kind), and open hatred?

It's not a fucking contest. Here's a thought, let's not legitimize or trivialize violence and harassment. If it's not ok to glitter-bomb gay pride event organizers, it's not ok to glitter bomb the SHFA.
