| red sox 777 06/28/19 1:50:26 AM #446: | This whole concept of fact checking as it's carried out is stupid. The point of the debates is that candidates present their arguments to the public. Fact checkers are basically filtering the debates by 1) interpreting what the candidate said, 2) including recasting a statement of opinion into a factual statement not said by the candidate, and 3) checking the veracity of the fact. The whole thing is insidious because it requires a high level of articulation to argue against, so most of the public is easily misled by fact-checkers. I think sometimes you have to use a wrecking ball to go after dishonesty and Trump did a great job of beating the dishonest fact-checkers, which Mitt Romney and John McCain couldn't do.
