Put in an offer on a house about a week ago.

This house had it all. 4 bed 2 bath, 2 den, finished basement, 2 car garage, 4th bedroom on basement floor adjacent to the lower den (these would be Daddy's man--er, nerdcave and Baby's playroom), less than two miles from the best high school in the county.

They were asking $195k, which is crazy low for all that (though it was a 1979 house), but when we took a look, we discovered a foundation issue. We put in an offer at $185k, contingent upon foundation inspection and home inspection, and to our amazement, the seller accepted. The foundation guy took a look and recommended some extra work be done, totaling $10k plus an estimated $3k in contractor labor.

$185k is supposed to be our absolute max so we had to ask the seller to eat the cost for the foundation stuff. Unsurprisingly, they didn't want to be out a whopping $23k (the $10k between list and offer, plus $13k in foundation work), so we walked.

*shrugs* God has a house for us somewhere.
