Kiwami 1 is indeed a bit rough. The awesome Y0 combat is majorly hamstrung by poor encounters and flat out bad bosses, and it's just way too evident that under the polish and new features it's still the oldest game in the series at heart. Like they were held back by what they had to work with.

Kiwami 2 is a stunningly huge improvement, the gameplay is actually far better than Y6 and while it's very clearly built from Y2's bones, it never feels a bit weaker for it.

Judgment should be completely disconnected from the rest of the games, so playing it after Kiwami 2 should be fine.
