now if someone's like, "Mr. COVxy", you can go, "please, it's Dr. COVxy"
Haha, I think the novelty of the title has already worn off. Then again, mostly it's been used facetiously in the past couple of days as "Dr. [First name].
I have yet to correct someone who calls me Mr. instead of Dr. It just seems like a jerk thing to do. I've had other people correct those that didn't use my title, but I just can't get over doing it myself.
Now if I was in a room full of Drs. and one decided to call me Mr., then I would gladly correct them. I can see this happening in the not-too-distant future, since I am a staff member working at a university with a bunch of faculty that see the staff as "beneath them".
But for your regular person I run into that calls me Mr., they don't care what my title is, lol.
Yeah, the title is silly. But there's a fair amount of discussion about the harm in men dismissing titles when women often need them to be taken seriously, and often not even then. So I don't take them seriously, but I also try not to be explicitly dismissive of it. ---
