question seems to be about people you meet, rather than people you know. you'd probably know if your friend isn't on social media, and probably wouldn't be suspicious of them because you know them.

but i do know some ridiculously outgoing people with no social media. i think age plays a factor, though, because they're all my age (i'm 34) or older. we were mid 20s and myspace was still poppin and smart phones barely existed.

it would be more bizarre if 20 year olds now weren't on social media.

This. Depends on your age. It's not unusual for people over 40 to not have anything, but a high schooler without social media is unusual.
