Honestly, I'm pretty convinced all of the top 1000 players atm are whales. I'm in the top 1000 as a dolphin of sorts, spent like 5 bucks on the monthly pack during Dizzy banner but... all these players have multitudes of 5* ML units, which are like .25% units on a gacha you can only really roll once per 2 weeks on average so... I have one, and I don't even use him cuz I don't have the units to support him lmao.
