Yes, a lot of the population lives in NYC, but if your job is to represent the entire state, and the vast majority of the state is red, you're going to see politicians do things that appeal to people other than those living in a 300 square mile section of a 54,000 square mile state. Balrog wanted to know why NY was less progressive than other states. I'm pointing out that outside of NYC it's not a progressive state.

Most people in the red counties still want weed legalized though.


Ya I was going to say, even your biggest redneck in upstate is nothing compared to other parts of the country. To some degree it has to do with the aging population and the number of jobs that come from 'correctional' facilities, and general law enforcement. After that it's a ton of people who frame houses..etc..
