Ma looked interesting to me so 3 stars sounds pretty good

4 stars for rocketman actually sounds like its a bit weaker than I expected.

4 stars for me is in my "highly recommended" zone, so that number means I really liked it.

I'm considering adjusting my star ratings a bit; the problem is I use a 1-10 scale with decimal places for my actual ratings, and I realized I had to make a strange conversion. Right now, I translate it as:
5 star: 9.0-10
4.5 star: 8.5-8.9
4 star: 8.0-8.4
3.5 star: 7.0-7.9
3 star: 6.0-6.9
And so on

So 4.0 and 4.5 is basically me splitting up my "great" films into two sections since I overall have more 4 star plus films than those below. But I think I really just need to make my scale a 0 to 10 scale and do some minor adjustments.

So what I'm trying to say is 4 stars from me signals a film I adored and I might be making a change soon that bumps most of them up to a 4.5 (and many of my 3.5 stars to 4). I use an 8 or higher score to signal a film's worthiness of being considered for the all-time top 1000 list I update each year.
