As I've gotten older, I've decided to just sidestep this conversation IRL when possible. Some people get surprisingly shitty/defensive if you mention not wanting kids, and assume that "oMg U hAtE kIdS!!" Maybe this is just another one of the American South's lovely quirks, but I've received this type of reaction multiple times and it's very tiresome.
