I just found out about this today and I can confirm that today is, in all likelihood, the worst day of my life.

I understand awful movies can be made and somehow sold. I guess there's some kind of weird market for that. I like some hilariously bad movies. What I do not understand is what kind of a market there is for a complete butchering of such an iconic franchise.

Though I can't say I enjoyed the Transformers movie, I can respect it only for its visuals so when I heard Michael Bay was involved in the upcoming Turtles movie, I was initially dumbstruck and quite upset to put it lightly. Then I thought it over a bit and reasoned that it was okay to be very cautiously optimistic. Maybe he won't destroy it. Maybe he'll just make the action scenes super awesome.

Nope.

I can't even be cautiously optimistic at this point. I realize they don't want to keep on telling the same exact story, but the origin of the Turtles is something that just doesn't need to be messed with. Subtle differences between some of its iterations is fine (Splinter being Hamato Yoshi as opposed to Splinter being Hamato Yoshi's pet rat), but something as drastic as this just didn't need to happen.

I didn't have such an attachment to Transformers so I could only dislike Michael Bay to the extent that I just didn't care for the movie, but the Turtles are very dear to my heart and this alien decision is simply unforgivable. Michael Bay is now my eternal enemy.
